50 Facts From The Hit Amazon Prime Show The Boys

In 2019, Amazon Prime introduced the world to an alternate superhero universe when they turned a comic series into a TV show known as The Boys. As soon as this show premiered it became an instant hit, for it follows the intense storyline of a superhero group called The Seven. In this superhero world, all the people with superhuman powers are profited off of by a corporation called Vought International. Now, the series is on season three, and fans still can't get enough of this comical, explicit, and action-packed series that explores the lives of villains and superheroes alike. Since the show is only gaining popularity, come join us as we explore 50 facts from the hit Amazon Prime show, The Boys! 

The original comic series, The Boys, had been an ongoing comic for six years, so it's difficult to imagine how the creators at Amazon Prime were able to produce the TV version in such a brief amount of time. In the first series alone, producers were able to drop eight episodes after only five months of work!

Throughout the show, we get to know two groups of people, The Seven and The Boys, and the series starts off with the introduction of this complex relationship between these superhumans and non-superheroes. With this in mind, the primary issues that The Boys have with The Seven are their destructive acts and their participation in a corrupt corporation. 

In this series, it is made clear that Vought International has complete control over every member of The Seven, especially when they force Starlight to change her superhero costume to an updated, exposing, and skin-tight outfit. Even though Starlight dreaded the idea, she was blackmailed into wearing the suit. 

New York seems like the perfect setting for a superhero show, which is why Amazon Prime and other creators of the show had decided to use this setting for The Seven's superhero adventures. Even though they let the audience know that the series takes place in NY, it is filmed in a different part of the world!

The Boys is known for massive amounts of violence, vulgarity, and other elements that may be less favorable for some people. It is also common for the writers of the show to push every boundary, although once they filmed a scene featuring an attack on a crowd, Canadian citizens stood their ground. 

Seth Rogen had been a leading producer in the TV series, The Boys, and he had had concerns about correctly transitioning the comics to television. This had led Seth to seek out one of the creators of the comics, Garth Ennis, to see if he had any advice as far as making the TV show. 

With there being 72 issues of The Boys, everyone wanted to produce the show because there would be so much content to work with, meaning creative freedom when building a series from it. Cinemax was the first one to set out on the quest of obtaining the rights and responsibilities of the show. 

In the comic book series, most women are represented poorly and are unable to stand up for themselves, although, when The Boys transitioned into a TV series, the writers made sure to vary away from the comic and create their own visions of the characters and their actions. 

Not only did the cast not know one another before filming, but they also all have diverse backgrounds, so even though the odds were against them, they still all had perfect chemistry on-screen. As far as the diversity, both Karl Urban (who plays Billy Butcher) and Antony Starr (who plays Homelander, pictured below) are from New Zealand. 

In the Amazon Prime series, The Boys, much of the comic is altered to fit the TV form, although the writers may have gone a little too far when they immensely changed the character, The Deep, especially his appearance. Pictured below to the far right is The Deep, and as you can see, he always has his diver's helmet on. 

Whether it be referring to the comics or the new stellar TV show, many fans recognize that The Seven are like an alternate version of the Justice League, and all of the members of The Seven reflect the DC characters. For example, Homelander reflects Superman, and Black Noir reflects Batman. 

Aya Cash, otherwise known as Stormfront, took on a gigantic role when she decided to audition for this show, and some may say that it was completely out of her range, seeing that she generally stars as plain characters in comedic and dramatic films. 

The Boys Presents: Diabolical is the verified spin-off show, and it aired in 2022 and is based around a Vought International-owned college campus. Creators admit that this addition to The Boys series is not like the original show, yet it is still set in the same universe.

Pictured below is one of the most shocking scenes from The Boys, which was seen during season two, episode three when The Boys had crashed their boat into a ginormous whale named Lucy. Luckily, the whale was not real, and the scene took over a week to film at Lake Ontario. 

It is clear by now that Homelander is the most terrible character but also the most complex, and his human name is John, which he inevitably chose for himself. Almost all of the members in The Seven and The Boys have human first and last names, although, Homelander is not that simple. 

Since 2019, everyone has been obsessed with the hit Amazon Prime show, The Boys, and rightfully so! Thankfully, we all got our fix of The Seven and The Boys when season three premiered on June 3rd, 2022, and once again, fans were pleased with the quality of the work, the action, and the storyline. 

With being one of the worst characters on the show, it is no surprise that Homelander was blackmailed by The Boys, whose entire purpose is to take down The Seven and the multibillion-dollar corporation that funds them, Vought International.
